Donna Marie Hanks

Donna Marie Hanks, 80, of Onawa, Iowa, passed Monday, October 3, 2022 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 10, 2022 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Catie Newman, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Donna’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Donna Marie Hanks was born September 7, 1942 in Onawa, Iowa to Walter and Bernice (Witt) Ploof. She grew up in Onawa and graduated from Onawa Highschool with the class of 1961.

Donna met the love of her life Gerald Orville Hanks, they were married July 22, 1963 in Onawa, Iowa.  They had two children, Douglas Wayne Hanks and Brenda Marie Stephens. Donna spent most of her time at home raising her children.

Donna enjoyed many things from using her computer, being on Facebook, baking, cooking, family gatherings, and reunions. The most important thing to Donna was her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Hanks of Onawa, Iowa; children, Douglas Wayne Hanks of Onawa, Iowa, and Brenda Marie (Ron) Stephens of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Bradley Wilder of Sioux City, Iowa, Andrew Hanks of West Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Rachel (Chris Peters) Wilder of Onawa, Iowa, Kalyssa Hanks of Tennessee, Jacob Wynn of Sioux City, Iowa, Ariel (Amere Tayborn) Wynn of Sioux City, Iowa; great grandchildren, Rose Black, Tegan Wilder, Tobin Wilder, and Christian Peters; two brothers, Duane (Imogene) Ploof of Winfield, Kansas, and Richard (Roberta) Ploof of Garden City, Kansas; two sisters, Kathryn Hanks of Onawa, Iowa, and Jean Zaiser of Onawa, Iowa; many other close friends and family.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bernice Ploof; sister, Bonnie West; brothers-in-law, Walter Hanks, Gordon Zaiser, and Gene West.
