Dillard W. Gross, 72, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Kingsley Specialty Care, Kingsley, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Catie Newman, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Dillard’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy and the David McNeill American Legion Post #129, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Dillard Wayne was born May 25, 1951 in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Donald and Lena (Karr) Gross. He grew up in Onawa and graduated from Onawa High School with the class of 1970. Dillard served in the United States Navy from January 7, 1971 and was honorably discharged January 7, 1972.

Dillard worked for Peter Kiewit in Omaha, Nebraska for ten years. He owned and operated Gross Sinclair in Onawa for five years. He later worked as a handyman around Onawa and completed many jobs for people.

Dillard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and had a gift of dancing. He was a member of the Onawa Eagles, VFW, and the American Legion.

Survivors include his children, Mollie (fiancé, Larry Ruffcorn) Gross of Onawa, Iowa and Josh (Jennifer) Gross of Whiting, Iowa; grandchildren, Josh Ruffcorn of Onawa, Iowa, Jack Ruffcorn of Onawa, Iowa, Destiny Ruffcorn of Norfolk, Nebraska, Gage Ruffcorn of Lawton, Iowa, and Chase Ruffcorn of Lawton, Iowa; Kurtis Gross of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Emma Gross of Whiting, Iowa, Keira Nolan of Whiting, Iowa, Timber Allen of Whiting, Iowa, and Adley Allen of Whiting, Iowa; brother, Jeff Gross of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lena (Karr) Gross; a special aunt who raised him like a son, Cordella (Glenn) McCall; brother, Barry Gross; sister, Roma McMullin; and brother-in-law, Richard McMullin.
