Dennis Metcalf passed away February 19, 2026. He was the son of Kenneth and Geraldine Metcalf of Holly Springs-Hornick, Iowa. He was raised on the Metcalf century farm of four generations. He married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Prichard, on August 28, 1960, and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Dennis will be interred at the Willow Township Cemetery in Holly Springs, Iowa, where his 5-generations of family are. His funeral will be held at 10:30 A.M. on May 30, 2026, with Pastor Brent Minter and conducted in the Methodist Church in Smithland, Iowa where Beverly and Dennis were married. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
He worked in the Kimball Sporting Goods Store in Sioux City, Iowa, during college. After graduation from Morningside College in 1962, he had the opportunity to buy the store and operated it for five years. He sold the store, and a job with the Colgate Palmolive Company began a successful 28-year career. Several corporate advancements lead to Texas, including Dallas, Frisco, and retirement in Horseshoe Bay. Iowa was also part of that retirement plan when able to buy both Beverly’s and his family farms. Making needed improvements plus participation in Iowa conservation of the unique Loess Hills property was important. Gathering family and friends at the farms for many reunions gave the most joy.
An avid all sports fan, he enjoyed the College World Series in Omaha every year, playing golf, and traveling the world with dear friends. Precious as family, friends were important to him, and he collected them and treasured them for life. His heart was full of love and generosity, and a positive attitude even during difficult times.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Michelle Moore, Denise Metcalf, and Michael Metcalf; daughter-in-law, Brigitte Metcalf; grandchildren, Kristin Howard (James), Christopher Moore, Stewart Pemble (Madison), Brady Pemble, Morgan Pemble, and Luke Metcalf; great-grandchildren, Karalina Moore and Nathan Moore; sisters, Cheryl Van Cleve (Terry) and Corene Aunan (Milton); and many nieces and nephews.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Geraldine Metcalf; sister, Avalee Horn; and brother-in-law, Bud Horn.
