Denise Marie Culver

Denise Marie Culver, 69, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

Per Denise’s wishes, her body has been donated to the Des Moines University Body Donor Program. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Denise Marie was born November 28, 1953 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the daughter of Jesse Culver and Donna Fouts. She attended school in Pisgah, Missouri Valley, and Moorhead. She was a housewife for many years and worked as a CNA and in Dietary.

Denise and Kelly Funkhouser were united into marriage on January 30, 2015 in Onawa, Iowa.

Denise enjoyed writing, poetry, taking care of animals, and gambling. Some of her interests included criminal law and forensics.

Denise was a devoted Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, Kelly Funkhouser of Onawa, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; sisters, Marla Maloney, Julie Morgan, and Ronna Peasley; brother; Robby Parrish; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Culver and Donna Fouts; brother, Roddy Parrish; grandparents, Clarence Fouts and Marjorie Riley-Fouts; and great – grandmother, Clarabelle Riley.
