David “Dave” Lynn Yanak, 71, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at CHI Health Mercy, Council Bluffs, Iowa, surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Dave’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
David Lynn was born February 19, 1953, in Onawa, Iowa. The son of Fred and Pauline (Green) Yanak. He grew up on a farm near Onawa, Iowa, and graduated from West Monona High school with the class of 1971.
Dave and Ruby Riley were united in marriage on April 3, 1973. He worked for Cargil until 1983 and worked at the Lewis and Clark State Park from 2004-2021.
He loved watching WWE Raw and Smackdown. Dave enjoyed demos, truck pulling, tractor pulling, and was very involved with mini rod pulling. His tractor’s nickname was “Foot Loose”. He was a member of the Northwest Iowa Tractor Pullers for thirty-one years.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Ruby Yanak of Onawa, Iowa; son, Ruben (Sandy) Yanak of Blair, Nebraska; grandchildren, Riley Yanak, and Brennan Yanak; brother, Jeff (Denise) Yanak of Onawa, Iowa; sister-in-law, Theresa Yanak of Onawa, Iowa; close friends of the family, Nate Butler and Maren Butler of Onawa, Iowa; many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pauline (Green) Yanak; brother, Mitch Yanak; and in-laws, Al and Irene (Winneke) Riley.
