Darlene Mae was born June 22, 1934, in rural Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth (Gilgen) Corn. She was baptized at the age of twelve in the old original First Christian Church, in Onawa, Iowa, by Reverend Everette Epperson. She moved to Turin, Iowa, at a young age with her parents in the late 40’s. They had purchased the original Frog Pond Café. Darlene attended grade school in Turin and graduated from Onawa High School in May of 1954.

She got married June 6, 1954, to David Archer of Moorhead, Iowa. The couple moved to Moorhead and raised five children. The couple later divorced. Darlene was a loving mother and helped out where she was needed in their business. Her family was her whole world.

Darlene worked at Frog Pond Café II in Turin, Iowa, for Mark and Mabel Whitmore and later at Midway Motel, Onawa, Iowa.

On December 26th of 1993 she married Logan Butcher of Blencoe, Iowa, and lived there for almost sixteen years. Logan passed away in November of 2009. She worked at Grandma’s Pride of Joy and then worked as a cook for West Central Head Start in Onawa, Iowa.

Darlene was a member of the Blencoe United Church of Christ in Blencoe, Iowa. She was active in Ladies VFW Auxiliary and Legion Auxiliary of Onawa, Iowa. Darlene was a member of the Blencoe Book Club.

She volunteered at the Onawa Historical Museum and at Act II.

She had several hobbies crocheting, crafting, playing dominoes, camping, golfing, traveling, raising flowers, baking and cooking, music, and dancing.

Darlene loved her family very much. She never missed an event of her children’s or grandchildren’s. Darlene enjoyed meeting new people and enjoyed living life to the fullest. One of the toughest things for Darlene was losing her son Ronald at the age of forty and losing her loving husband Logan.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Angie) Archer of Sioux City, Iowa, Dennie (Debbie) Archer of Castana, Iowa, Pam (Kevin Parr) Stillman of Moorhead, Iowa, and Mark Archer of Moorhead, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Donna Archer of Moorhead, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Mary (CJ) Anderson of Ashland, Nebraska, Phyllis (Jim) Towne of Onawa, Iowa, and Marilyn (Bill) Owens; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Logan Butcher; son, Ronald Archer; parents, Ralph and Ruth (Gilgen) Corn; and brothers, Leo (Helen) Corn, Eugene (Anita) Corn, and Melvin Corn.
