Curtis E. Gilson

Curtis E. Gilson, 72, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

Per Curtis’ wishes, cremation has been accorded. No services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Curtis Edward was born September 10, 1953, to Bessie Sorenson. He graduated from West Monona High School with the class of 1971.

Curtis and Cheryl Dorman were united into marriage July 18, 1984 in Elk Point, South Dakota.

Curtis worked for many years as a truck driver, hauling concrete. Outside of work, he found joy in simpler pleasures, spending his free time playing his guitar and relaxing while fishing.

Survivors include stepbrother, Larry Sorenson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie (Harley) Sorenson; wife, Cheryl (Dorman) Gilson; and stepsister-in-law, Rhonda Sorenson.
