Cheryl L. Gilson

Cheryl L. Gilson, 64, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Friday, August 22, 2025 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

Per Cheryl’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. Private services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Cheryl Louise was born on September 15, 1960, to Robert and Mavis (Reed) Dorman. Growing up in a military family, she experienced life in various places as her father’s service required frequent moves. Cheryl completed her high school education and continued her learning by taking several college courses to further her education.

Cheryl and Curtis Gilson were united into marriage July 18, 1984 in Elk Point, South Dakota.

Cheryl was a dedicated greyhound dog trainer for numerous dogs. She also worked for several years at J.D. Spirits in Onawa. In her free time, Cheryl loved reading and took great joy in caring for her husband.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis E. Gilson of Onawa, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mavis (Reed) Dorman.
