Carol Sue Cox, 62, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Darren C.E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Carol’s obituary. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Goslar chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Carol Sue Murphy was born June 28, 1963 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Adkins) Murphy. She obtained her GED.
Carol and Ryan Cox were united into marriage April 10, 1996 in Elk Point South Dakota.
Carol pursued her education in accounting, which led her to prepare and file taxes for others. Over the years, she built a strong work ethic through her roles as a cashier at Petro Mart and Bomgaars, where she spent many dedicated years assisting customers. In addition to her retail experience, Carol also worked as a secretary at S & H Drilling. Outside of her professional life, Carol found joy in simple pleasures—she loved working on puzzles, spending time playing games on her phone, and staying connected with others by scrolling through Facebook.
Survivors include her husband, Ryan Cox of Onawa, Iowa; children, Mathew Collett of Onawa, Iowa and Amanda (Whitmore) Ignacio Garcia of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Brynleigh Collett, Alex Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Arik Whitmore, and Tony Ignacio Garcia; siblings, Joe (Mary) Murphy of Kennewick, Washington, JoAnn (Randy) Maxwell of Onawa, Iowa, Michael Murphy of Monroe, Louisiana, Rebecca Grant of Gretna, Nebraska; parents-in-law, Clifford and Priscilla (Foster) Cox of Castana, Iowa; brother-in-law, Tim Cox of Sentinel, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Marlene Murphy of Sioux City, Iowa, Karen Murphy of Hickory Grove, South Carolina, and Christina Cox of Amarillo, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy (Adkins) Murphy; brothers, Edward Thomas Murphy, Peter James Murphy, Roger Glen Murphy, and Charles Edward, Murphy, Jr., sister-in-law, Diane Murphy; and brother-in-law, Donald Grant.
