Carol A. Cole, 88, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at CHI Health Lakeside, Omaha, Nebraska.
A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Clif Cockburn, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Carol’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Carol was born May 19, 1936, in Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Mildred (Carroll) Funkhouser. She grew up in Whiting, Iowa. Carol and George Henry Cole, Jr. were united in marriage on October 25, 1952, in Onawa, Iowa.
She worked at various places including Moore Brothers Grocery Store, Dunhams Shoe Store, Moons, and This and That Resale Shop all located in Onawa, Iowa.
Carol made many wood crafts and hand crafts. She made toy boxes and embroidered baby blankets and dish towels. She enjoyed reading, casino visits, rummage sales, and playing cards with friends and neighbors. Carol loved spending quality time with her family.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Bill (Kysa) Cole of Sioux City, Iowa, Cynda Gustin of Onawa, Iowa, and David (Jackie) Cole of Sloan, Iowa; grandchildren, Brad (April) Cole of Ormond Beach, Florida, Dustin (Jennifer) Cole of Portage, Michigan, Brittany (Josh Thompson) Anderson of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Jeremy (Heather) Hinkel of Le Mars, Iowa, Alea (Zach) Ulven of Sloan, Iowa, Lindsea (Drew) Brekke of Sloan, Iowa, and Bailea (Fiancé Brody VandenBosch) Cole of Onawa, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Madison, AJ, Connor, Brady, Morgan, Mia, Harper, Rylan, Courtney, Kassidy (Kyle), Kameron (Piper), and Wrenn; great-great-grandchild, Charlotte, and another one on the way “Peanut”; sister, Connie Perrin of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law, Patti Funkhouser of Spokane, Washington; and many other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Cole, Jr.; son, Larry George Cole; parents, Lawrence and Mildred (Carroll) Funkhouser; sister, Vivian Woods; brother, Rex Funkhouser; and sister, Jana Mercer.
