Bruce Burnell Cox

Bruce Burnell Cox, 71, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at UnityPoint Health Center St. Lukes, Sioux City, Iowa.

A graveside service will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa, with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A public visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Bruce was born October 15, 1951, in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Paul Miller and Inez Elaine (Chapin) Cox. He attended school at Maple Valley High School and graduated with the class of 1970. Bruce enjoyed motorcycles in his early adulthood.

Bruce worked for Iowa Beef as a meat cutter. Later he operated his own trucking business and drove truck across the country for many years. Bruce loved trucking and seeing the country.

He enjoyed cars and loved spending time on the farm where he grew up.

Survivors include his son, Brandon (Tammy) Cox of Hubbard, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jenna Cox of Canton, South Dakota, and Shelby Cox of Hubbard, Nebraska; two sisters, Karen (Sam) Mele of Gretna, Nebraska, and Joann (Tom Sparks) Cox of Gretna, Nebraska; and many other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Inez Cox of Castana, Iowa; brother, Brian Cox; grandparents, several aunts, and uncles.

Bruce gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation with the Iowa Donor Network.
