Brian Paul Cox ,76, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Ticonic, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, at Whispering Creek Senior Living, Sioux City, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Brian’s obituary.  Burial will follow in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa, with Military Honors provided the United States Air Force. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Brian Paul was born July 25, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Paul and Inez (Chapin) Cox. He attended Maple Valley High School in Mapleton, Iowa, and graduated with the class of 1964. After graduation, Brian married Jeanette Strachen and soon after enlisted into the United States Air Force and was stationed in Bermuda from 1965 to 1969, when he was honorably discharged.  They had two daughters, Lisa Marie and Andrea Lynn and then later divorced. 

On July 25, 1979 Brian married Cheryl “Cheri” Janssen in Elk Point, South Dakota.  They lived in Sloan with daughter Shelly, until moving to the farm in 1983.

Brian was employed at IBP in Dakota City, Nebraska, D&L Processors in Sioux City, Iowa, and was an over the road trucker while farming with his dad and eventually took over the family farm in 1996.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycles and was an avid gun collector.

Survivors include his daughters, Shelly (Troy) Matousek of Sloan, Iowa, and Andrea Singh of Scottsdale, Arizona; two sisters, Karen (Sam) Mele of Gretna, Nebraska, and Joann (Tom Sparks) Cox of Gretna, Nebraska; one brother, Bruce Cox of Kingsley, Iowa;  grandchildren, Robert (Brittney) Frahm of Canton, South Dakota, Derek (Bailey) Frahm of Sloan, Iowa, Cassidy (Chad) Walker of Sloan, Iowa, Joshua (Courtney) Cox of Alexandria, Virginia, and Isabella Singh of Scottsdale, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Brody Frahm, Chloe Frahm, Maddie Frahm, Rowynn Frafjord, Jagger Frafjord, Barrett Walker, and Silas Walker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheri Cox; parents, Paul and Inez (Chapin) Cox; daughter, Lisa Cox; and his best dog friend, Jake.
