Robert Allen Determan
April 23, 1950 – December 3, 2025
&
Maria Olga Determan
September 22, 1945 – April 9, 2022
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Allen Determan, age 75, who peacefully left this world on December 3, 2025, in Taylors Falls, Minnesota, and the life of his beloved wife, Maria Olga Determan, age 77, who passed on April 9, 2022, in Atlas, Wisconsin. This month, their family will lay them to rest together, reunited as they were throughout their lives—in love, faith, and devotion to one another.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Spring Valley Cemetery, rural Moorhead, Iowa, with Pastor Nathaniel Johnson, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Bob and Olga’s obituary. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the David McNeill American Legion Post #129 of Onawa, Iowa. A luncheon will be held at the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa, following the memorial graveside service. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Bob was born on April 23, 1950, in Pisgah, Iowa, to Richard and Veryl Determan and Olga was born on September 22, 1945 in Portugal to Antonio and Maria Andrade. From the beginning, both lives were shaped by a deep capacity for caring for others—a shared value that would define their family and their legacy.
Bob proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed overseas in the Azores, where fate brought him together with Olga—the love of his life. Following his military service, Bob and Olga were married and began building a life together in Iowa. Bob later graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Business, laying the foundation for a life marked by service, leadership, and purpose.
Together, Bob and Olga eventually made their home across Minnesota and Wisconsin, where they nurtured deep roots in family, church, and community. Their life was not defined by a single place, but by the people they loved and the lives they touched wherever they lived.
Bob’s life was a tapestry of service. He worked as an EMT, served as a business owner and grocery store manager, and brought enthusiasm and connection to his role as a salesman for Wells Blue Bunny Ice Cream. His calling to serve extended far beyond his professional life. Through his faith and Stephen Ministries, Bob offered compassion, care, and steady support to those walking through difficult seasons. His generosity, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Olga was Bob’s constant partner and strength. Together they shared a love of scenic drives—especially in the fall, when the colors reflected the beauty they found in simple moments. Their apple orchard and fruit trees were a shared joy, symbols of the life they cultivated side by side. Whether reading, spending quiet time together, or finding fellowship within their church community, Bob and Olga cherished a life rich with meaning, gratitude, and faith.
Left to treasure their memory are their sons, Brian (Michele) Determan and Jon (Laura) Determan; their beloved grandchildren, Nick (Alison), Kayli, Nevaeh, Maddi, Tyler, and Aliyah; and their adored great-grandchildren, Lucille and Heather. They are also lovingly remembered by Bob’s sisters, Pat Klotz (Roger) and Kaye Dunlop; and Olga’s sisters, Margarida Andrade and Adrianna Pacheco; along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by Bob and Olga’s love.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Olga; his parents, Richard and Veryl Determan; and his brother-in-law, Bob Dunlop. Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Maria Andrade.
Though Bob and Olga have gone from our sight, the love they shared, the faith they lived, and the kindness they gave so freely will continue to echo through generations. Their lives remain a testament to devotion, service, and enduring love—and they will be remembered always.
