Barbara "Barb" Ann Roach

Barbara “Barb” Ann Roach, 70, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

A private family graveside memorial service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, Iowa, with Pastor Matthew Sperling, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Barbara Ann was born August 6, 1953, in rural Pisgah, Iowa, the daughter of Clayton and Evelyn (McHugh) Peterson. She grew up on a farm and attended Pisgah High School.

Barb Peterson and Hershel Lee Roach were united in marriage on July 10, 1975 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Hershel, III and Jon.

Barb worked at the Missouri Valley café, Helen’s Café in Onawa, rest stop near Onawa, and in the kitchen at Elmwood Care Centre and Pleasant View Care Center.

She enjoyed fishing, hunting with Hershel, and car rides in the country. Barb loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband, Hershel Roach of Onawa, Iowa, children, Hershel (Maren) Roach, III of Onawa, Iowa, and Jon (Lucy) Roach of Onawa, Iowa; grandchildren, Dalton Teeters of Honolulu, Hawaii, Halee Teeters of Dalton, Georgia, Logan Teeters of Onawa, Iowa, Jayden Roach of Onawa, Iowa, Madison Roach of Onawa, Iowa, Keira Kono of Onawa, Iowa, and Jordan Roach of Onawa, Iowa; sister, Bonnie Hayes of Red Oak, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Robert Roach of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Terry (Roxanne) Roach of Omaha, Nebraska, Jeff Roach of Logan, Iowa, Bert (Candy) Roach of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jimmy Roach of Missouri Valley, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Debby Roach of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Shari (John) Coddington of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Evelyn (McHugh) Peterson; parents-in-law, Hershel and Odetta (Clever) Roach; brother-in-law, Marvin Hayes; sister-in-law, Hilda Roach; and uncle, Dorance (Mary) Peterson.
