Barbara B. Wacheldorf

Barbara B. Wacheldorf, 70, of Moorhead, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 27, 2025 at her residence.

A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa, with Pastor Chuck Snow, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Barbara’s obituary. Burial will be held at a later date in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Barbara Gail was born April 22, 1955, in Moorhead, Iowa, at the Blaine family residence in the beautiful Loess Hills of Iowa, the daughter of James and Rosemary (Moorhead) Blaine. She attended elementary and high school at East Monona in Moorhead, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1973. Following her graduation, she pursued her studies at Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri, for a year and later at Baldwin University in Baldwin, Kansas, for a year, focusing on early childhood development.

Barb married Randy Leonard Wacheldorf on April 29, 1978, in a heartfelt ceremony at their home in Moorhead, Iowa. Together, they shared forty-seven years of a happy and fulfilling marriage. To this union two children were born: Stuart Randall Wacheldorf and Rosemary Louise Moorhead Blaine Wacheldorf. Barbara also was a housewife and enjoyed taking care of her children.

She worked for USDA Farm Service Agency, Robert Shol Upholstery, she opened her own shop, and worked for USPS in Moorhead, Iowa, before retiring.

Barb enjoyed singing and playing the saxophone, crafting, fishing, canoeing, gardening with Lindi and Rosemary doing Green Hill Gardens, beachcombing, and community service.

She was a member of the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa, where she was a deacon and elder for many years. Barb taught Sunday School and Bible School for over twenty years.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Leonard Wacheldorf of Moorhead, Iowa; daughter, Rosemary Wacheldorf Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Penelope Olivia, and Roman Irving Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Marcia (Debra Grove) Blaine of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers, Park (Kathleen) Blaine of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and John Ottis of Grand Marais, Minnesota; and many other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stuart Randall Wacheldorf; parents, James and Rosemary (Moorhead) Blaine; sister, Linda Hope Blaine Ottis; and parents-in-law, Leonard and Darlene (Leisinger) Wacheldorf.
