Arnold Blake Hall was born in Onawa on September 22, 1957 to Donald and Maggie (Burns) Hall of Little Sioux. He joined brothers, Lonny and John, and sister, Bonny.
As a youngster, the family had a Sears All-State scooter which was an early introduction to his lifelong love of motorcycles. The 60’s TV program GREEN ACRES had a character named Arnold Ziffel, a nickname he adopted.
Arnold graduated in 1975 from West Harrison High School in Mondamin. He was briefly married to Tami Crowder, and they had one daughter, Vicki.
Throughout his adult life, Arnold demonstrated an ability to work hard and solve most mechanical problems. Whether helping harvest for local farmers, working on scrap metal compactors for Henry Larson, working at the Monona County Drainage District, mowing around Little Sioux, or welding at CON-E-CO, those abilities were recognized and appreciated.
Arnold could tell a joke to anyone, and some were definitely groaners! He was willing to help those who needed it and had a soft spot for animals. Riding his motorcycle gave him immense pleasure, whether visiting points of interest, observing the seasons and other landscape changes, or just having the sense of freedom 2 wheels provided! Arnold knew every low maintenance road in Harrison and Monona counties. He was self-taught on guitar, liked to visit the casinos, always tinkering on pickups and mowers, and always scouting for firewood. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, taking part in the Annual Hall Hill Hike, and taking pictures. Drawing cartoons was another talent.
Arnold is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Weston) Osborn, who was the light of his life. Also survived by brother, John Hall; sister, Bonny Hall; niece, Adrienne Essmann; nephew, Jebediah Essmann; and great-nephew, Ravi Essmann.
He was preceded by his parents, Donald and Maggie (Burns) Hall; and brother, Lonny Hall.
