Andrew "Andy" Sieger Obituary

Andrew “Andy” Thomas Sieger, 72, of Whiting, Iowa passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa with Pastor Craig Bock, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Andy’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa, with Military Honors provided by the United States Army, the Hindman-Steele American Legion Post #492, of Hornick, Iowa, and Smith-Rhodes American Legion Post #295 of Sloan, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Andrew was born July 16, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Donald and Lucille (Lighthall) Sieger. He graduated from Westwood Community Schools with the class of 1968. Andy served in the United States Army from July 8, 1970, stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged April 2, 1973. Andy graduated as a civil engineer tech in Wahpeton, North Dakota.

Andy and Kathy Hummel were united into marriage April 7, 1979, at the Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa, and was blessed with three children, Carrie, Chad, and Laura.

 Andy was a facility manager for MCI in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Hindman-Steele American Legion Post #492, of Hornick, Iowa.

He enjoyed sudoku puzzles, golfing and spending time with his golf buddies, and loved feeding and watching the birds. Andy loved watching NASCAR and John Wayne movies. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, taking care of his yard and picking up sticks.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Sieger; two daughters, Carrie (Jon) Turnquist of Alta, Iowa, and Laura (Adrian) Rieder of Gardner, Kansas; grandchildren, Brittany Turnquist, Grace Rieder, and Alexa Rieder; three sisters, Judy (Leo) Lidgett, Kathleen (Doug) Chappelle, and Ellen Hunt; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lucille (Lighthall) Sieger; parents-in-law, Bob and Shirley Hummel; son, Chad Sieger; grandson, Tyler Turnquist; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Wilt, and Darrell Hunt; and nephew, Steven Wilt.
