Morris G. Dahl, 91, of Sloan, Iowa passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa with Dr. Emery Killian and Pastor Kody Killian, officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. A private family burial will be in the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force and the Smith – Rhodes American Legion Post #295, of Sloan, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Morris Gordon was born February 6, 1930 in Sloan, Iowa the son of Christian and Della (Primmer) Dahl. He graduated from Sloan High School with the class of 1949. Morris spent much of his youth working with his father and uncle at Dahl Brothers Phillips 66 in Sloan, Iowa.

Morris joined the 185th Air National Guard while still in High School and served until 1952. He was called up to active duty during the Korean War and served stateside in Maine and Texas during that time. He did on-ground aircraft maintenance, specifically working on jet engines, and at one point served as crew chief.

Morris and Arloa L. Carlson were united in marriage on August 9, 1956 in the house they built together in Sloan, Iowa. They had three children, Susanne, Ann, and Marc.

Morris served as Postmaster of Sloan, Iowa for over thirty years and further served the United States Postal Service as a Post Office Inspector. Morris also served as a board member of the Selective Service System. Morris was a member, and past Commander, of the Smith – Rhodes American Legion Post #295 for almost seventy years.

Morris and Arloa were active in the Siouxland Humane Society Auxiliary for many years and were recognized as the longest working members in 2018. He was a long time, active member of the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa. Morris enjoyed visiting with family and friends, crossword puzzles, and sharing his days with his cat Zoey.

Survivors include two daughters, Susanne Martin of Sloan, Iowa and Ann (Terri Thorn) Dahl of Menoken, North Dakota; one son, Marc (Amy) Dahl of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Paul Hendricks, Patrick Hendricks, Amanda Hendricks, Marc N. Dahl, and Katie Dahl; great-grandchildren, Cailey and Andrew Parker, Casie Jones, Jordyn and Madelyn Hendricks, and Natalie Rose; sister-in-law, Janet Vaughn; one niece, Kari Alexander (Preston) Wilson; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arloa (Carlson) Dahl; parents, Christian and Della (Primmer) Dahl; two sons-in-law, Jim Hendricks and Mike Martin; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Alexander and W. Ralph Vaughn.
